In fact, this is true for this year's top 3 sales in the Carlsbad as two of the three were located on the beach on the famous Ocean Street. 2016 was an incredible year in Carlsbad with already 1,734 homes sold and counting for the remainder of this month. Here is a recap of what homes sold for the most money in the beach community of Carlsbad, California.
The first two highest sale this year goes to an oceanfront home located at 2497 Ocean Street in Carlsbad. The home sold for $4.2 million and closed escrow on 08/02/2016. This was a private sale that sold even before the home came on the market and was originally marketed at $4,450,000. The three bedroom, three bath home featured 3,949 square feet of living space and located directly on the sand on the very northern tip of Carlsbad. The home was newly built in 2009 and was a wonderful two story Mediterranean style home with an oversized 2 car garage. The interior featured wonderful wood beamed ceilings, a gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances and a center island breakfast bar. The Master Bedroom also featured vaulted wood ceilings with a cozy fireplace and wonderful ocean views.
The second highest sale was located in the Aviara area of Carlsbad on a private road. 7151 Latitude sold for $3,400,000 and closed escrow on 09/12/2016. It was on the market for a total of 140 days and was originally listed for $3,999,000. The six bedroom, eight bath home was like a mini resort with an amazing backyard with a custom pool, waterfalls, cave, rope swing and beach like setting. In addition to the seven car garage the grounds could accommodate up to 30 cars plus RV parking. In addition, the home was located on the 5th hole of the Aviara golf course next to the Aviara Point gated community. Other features included a 14 sea movie theater, dance studio, billiards room and walk-in temperature controlled wine cellar.
The final sale also took place on Ocean Street but was a luxury attached condo. 2459 Ocean Street #B, Carlsbad sold for $2,800,000 and closed escrow on 08/03/2016. Located in the Villa Mira a La Costa complex, the two bedroom two bath condo was on the market for a total of 78 days with an original list price of $2,995,000. This was a true ocean front condo with direct beach access at the very northern tip of Carlsbad. Interior featured wall to wall glass that overlooked the beach with custom stone flooring and a spacious floor plan that combined many of the living space. This was a truly one of a kind property that really captured the feeling of living directly on the beach.
