Over the past 10 years many of the Carlsbad home builders have incorporated a guest casita into the floor plan. This can be a big selling feature for those who have generational family members living with them as well as young adults that need some extra space in the home. It seems that more and more children are staying at home even after graduating high school which makes having a guest casita the ideal situation. There are several Carlsbad neighborhoods where I can recommend you look.
First, one of the newest communities to incorporate a guest casita is the 12 Pacific Carlsbad community. The casita is actually attached to the main part of the house but comes with it's own private entrance. Normally you only see detached casita's on homes located on large lots. The five bedroom home features an approximate 3,885 square feet and is on the market for $1,467,900 and is currently under contract. One of my favorite newer communities is Robertson Ranch that features 4 different and unique neighborhoods. There is currently a six bedroom home on the market which features an approximate 3,352 square feet and comes with a detached casita with one full bedroom and bath. It's on the market for sale at $1,399,000.
Other notable neighborhoods would be the new Preserve community which features the most expensive home with a guest casita. The five bedroom home with approximate 4,680 square feet comes with a detached casita with it's own private entrance and kitchen and is currently on the market for $1,995,000.
